Europa League match day scarf: Hamburger SV - FC Thun (from season 2005/06).
Founded in 1898, FC Thun played in lower leagues for decades. 2004/05 was only FC Thun's fourth season in Switzerlands top league. The club surprisingly finished the season on second place and therefore was qualified for the UEFA Champions League. Starting in the second qualifying round, Thun won against ukrainian side Dynamo Kyiv, and then defeated Malmö FF in 3rd round (they won away with 1:0 and at home with 3:0). So FC Thun was qualified for the group stage of the Champions League and was drawn against Arsenal, Ajax Amsterdam and Sparta Prague. FC Thun finally finished third and entered the UEFA Europa League at the round of 32, where the club played against Hamburger SV.
This is one of three HSV-Thun-scarves that I have. This inofficial scarf I bought for CHF 1.-- at a second hand shop.
